Meet the Blog
Femme Feitale brings advice about high school, friendships, the season's trends, cultural identity, pressing social issues, social media, and more from the perspective of an overachieving, perfectionist, and stressed teenage girl herself.

Besides a blog, Femme Feitale offers individual college admissions counseling, particularly help with navigating the process and writing college essays. Contact Jess to get started.
Meet Jess
Hi! My name is Jessica (middle name Fei). Based in New York, I am nothing more than your average teen, falling in and out of love with everything life has to offer.
As a Chinese American teen, I often find myself caught between stereotypes and staying true to myself. In a world as big and messy as ours, it's no wonder it's so easy to find yourself lost among the crowd.

We try so hard to define ourselves, but far too often, these definitions become limits - shackles on our imagination. We can be a number of things and love infinitely, if we so choose. Though there are most definitely days that it feels impossible to believe, life has plenty to love with all its diversity.
To most, I am just a name to a face, held aloof by my nerdy reputation. Understandably enough, I do love my math problems and chemistry equations. But I love a lot more than that: fashion, photography, travel, music, art, politics.
My favorite quote is one from Oscar Wilde, who said "With freedom, books, flowers, and the moon, who could not be happy?" It's a naive sentiment, I know, but it is one that reminds us to appreciate ordinary happiness. For me, blogging is about finding my own ordinary happiness amidst all the chaos.
Here's to all the other people searching for their ordinary happiness, the Asian American teens, the average teens, and the lost faces among the crowd.
