MEET some of our tutors
Ryan Alliegro is currently going to Minisink Valley High School and is interested in tutoring because he wants to be a teacher.

Aneeka goes to Cornwall Central High School and is a sophomore. Her favorite subjects are biology and Algebra 2. Helping others in this crazy time attracted her to tutoring.

Enver Candan is a Hardware Development Engineer at IBM. He has a PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is from Turkey and has been in the US for over 8 years now. His interests are power supply design, microcontroller programming, traveling and photography. He is excited to be a tutor for DOT to make his community a better place by learning from one another.

Ariana Figueroa is currently a junior at Cornwall Central High School. Her favorite subjects in school are human biology, Spanish, and English. During her free time, Ariana is a Kindergarten ministry leader assistant at Grace community church. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Ariana is excited to be tutoring and connect with students who are eager to learn.

Andrew Fredericks is a junior from Cornwall Central High School whose hair has grown into an absolute mess. Andrew wants to become a paleontologist when he grows up and loves science. Outside of school, Andrew is a dream: he plays varsity basketball and the clarinet for his high school and the All-County Band.

Gigi Goldfischer is currently a junior at Arlington High School. She is heavily involved in the Arlington community working as a member and leader of the Arlingtonian, SHEquality Club, United States Political Forum Club, Student Equity Team, the Environmental Club, and the girls varsity tennis team. She loves working on the DOT administrative team and as a tutor since she is passionate about helping others and working with her students over Zoom always brightens up her days during these uncertain times.

Sabrina Goldfischer is an Arlington High School graduate, and now she is a freshman at Harvard College. She plans on studying Government, and is involved with the Institute of Politics and Jewish community on campus.

Alyssa Harris is a junior at Arlington High School. She plans on studying computer science and Spanish in college, and pursuing a career as a software engineer. She is excited to be tutoring because she hopes to share her love of learning with younger students. When she isn’t in school, Alyssa loves to spend time with her family either watching tv or outside with their cat, Hazel, playing one of four instruments (flute, piccolo, piano, and ukulele), helping with plans for Arlington High School’s annual Relay for Life event, or is volunteering with J-Teen Leadership.

Shelby Hunt is a student at Cornwall Central High School, class of 2023. She is a student-athlete, as well as involved in clubs and honors classes. She hopes to teach others in my future and thinks this the perfect start.

Jade Lee is a student at Binghamton University and a graduate of Cornwall Central High School. She is aiming to become a Biochemistry major with goals of pursuing a career in the medical field. She is interested in science, music, and art. Jade also loves helping others in need, which is why she is excited to tutor those who are having academic troubles during this tough time.

Leah Mayerhauser is currently a sophomore at Arlington High School. In school, she enjoys studying English and history, as well as playing the flute in the Symphonic Band. She is an avid member of Student Government, the district and school Equity Teams, and she is currently a captain on the varsity girls swim team. Leah is excited to share her passion for learning with other students during this difficult time.

Alexander Ngai is a freshman at Arlington High School. He is an honor student and working towards becoming an Eagle scout. He was on the marching band, the fencing team and the math league. He plays clarinet and piano. He likes to play video games and is interested in history. He loves to watch memes on YouTube. He is excited to be tutoring because he wishes to make a difference in this difficult times.

Sydney OConnor is a freshman at a local high school in Dutchess County. She loves to study history, business and math. Sydney has passions for reading, swimming, politics, business, and government. She hopes to one day acquire an Economics and Finance degree from Wharton. She is so happy to be helping people during this difficult time.

Diya Patel is studying Mathematics and Economics at Fordham University and is eager to use her resources to provide support to any students whose school work or college application plans have been derailed by the current public health crisis!

Julia Pomeroy is a sophomore at Arlington High School. She hopes to have a STEM career and loves books and poetry! She genuinely enjoys tutoring others and is excited to be able to continue that.

Dharani Rao is currently a graduate student at New York Medical College, she has a B.S. in Biology from Northeastern University. Dharani loves teaching science! As a lab TA in college and through various other organizations she has mentored countless students, and is so excited to have the opportunity to do it again with DOT!

Ryann is a sophomore at Cornwall Central High School. Her favorite subjects include biology, algebra I, and algebra II. She’s excited to be tutoring, as it gives her the chance to share her knowledge and give back to the community during this time.

Joshua Sandler is a junior studying at Cornwall Central High School. His favorite subjects include AP Lang and SUNY Spanish, while he specializes in Geometry, Spanish, and History. Josh has passions for politics, foreign languages, public speaking, and theatre. He’s excited to meet new people, help where he can, and make these dark days a bit brighter.

Carly Schneider is a 2019 John Jay Senior High School graduate from Fishkill, NY. She currently attends Western New England University to study Industrial Engineering. She has acquired a strong understanding of mathematics and the sciences, but also has a passion for history. Throughout the past three years, she has tutored in geometry, algebra 2 and Italian I, and she can’t wait to continue helping young minds flourish through DOT’s services!

Austin Tracey is a junior at Dover High School. His favorite subjects are biology & history. When not in school, he enjoys playing instruments, playing with his dogs and watching TV. He is hoping to pursue a career in music education.

Ariel Yarmus is a sophomore at Cornwall Central High School. She loves to study history and the sciences, and she hopes to pursue a career in the field of psychological sciences in the future. In her spare time, Ariel enjoys writing poetry, reading almost any type of book, and participating in her school’s drama club productions. As a DOT tutor, Ariel is excited to have the opportunity to share her knowledge with other students in order to help enhance their learning experience while at home.

Eileen Yang is a junior at Arlington High School. She is intending to major in political economy, aiming to become a public defender. In her free time, she enjoys curling up with a good book, knitting little items for her pets, and organizing plans for The Green Leaf Initiative. She does reading buddies at her local library on Saturdays and is very passionate about spreading the love of learning.

Hannah Zollner is a rising freshman at Cornell University, College of Engineering. She most likely will be majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering, but is excited to see where her academic journey takes her. She loves helping other students, and is excited to be virtually tutoring, since she can't in person anymore.
